Dunston Saw Mills. (Palmer Hall Company, Ltd.)
The Dunston Saw Mills were among the largest in the country. The firm supplied timber to builders, joiners and cabinet makers throughout the North of England. There were two circular saws in the Mills which were used to saw pit props for the many local collieries.

My great-grandfather John Thomas Watson worked as a foreman at the saw mills from the mid 1860's to the late 1880's and lived with his family at 12, Mill Street, Dunston. I would be interested to know what the mill was like during this period and how many men were employed there. M.E.Miller

Hi,
Mr family (Symm) had over 300 years service at the mill from my great/great grandfather to my grandfather and all relations in between. My Great/great grandfather started there in 1836 when the mill opened. I love to find any info/pics on the mill. How far did you get?
regards
Dave
