The teacher running in the background was called Mr.Holmes. He was the 'sports' teacher and also ran the school football team.

Many thanks for the information about Mr Holmes.

Such an excellent school! I have very fond memories of my time there (1969-1976, Infants and Juniors of course.) Mr Harwood, the Headmaster, with his pipe and leather-patched jacket, the epitome of his craft. Mrs Blades, Mrs Jones, Mr Webb, Mr Holmes, Mrs Todd, Mrs Wardle, all happy recollections on my part. This lovely school nurtured my love of the English language, long may it continue in its community role.

I am in Y6 and Daisy is in Y3, and we have lots of friends. All of the teachers are really nice, I am in Miss Hind's class and Daisy, is in Mrs Whitton's class. We have soooooo much fun but look at the difference of Mr. Holmes then and now!!!!!!

Posted by: cameron smith at June 25, 2008 8:16 PM

You have changed a lot Mr.Holmes don't you think that too? Hey, by the way this is Eleanor from Miss Simpsons class which used to be your old classroom! I always see you on a Tuesday because of P.E! May I ask, did you like my dad when he was a boy? He told me that he was very naughty at school.

Posted by: Eleanor at December 17, 2008 8:11 PM

My son Paul was 3 that year and attended the Community Centre nursery opposite the school. Mr Holmes taught him a couple of years later and coached Paul's football team.

My youngest son carl also attended Front Street around 1995 and I myself was a pupil during the mid -sixties...fabulous School with great tradition.

I remeber Mr Mears, Mrs Wardle, Mr Webb (our footie coach), Mrs Jay, Mr Harwood.

Hey Mr.H. Hardly get to see you anymore apart from Fridays and when you are wandering around! Niamh it is Sophie from your class not Sophie MD in yr8. Nicole says hi, you remember her??? Mrs MacDonald is THE BEST teacher in the whole world. You are the best P.E. teacher in the whole world. Yr5 is great! We get to do so much fun stuff unlike when with Mrs. Whitton.

See you Friday Mr. H!

Can this be the the Mr Holmes that was my teacher circa 1975? A great teacher. Did he not marry Mrs Stamper(?). it certainly was a great school but the outside toliets were a problem. I once had an "accident" and left school without telling any teachers and went straight home. This would cause an uproar now. Mrs Wardle was a bit fierce. I used to cry at maths - her solution was to mock me..happy days...

Posted by: Julian Varley at July 8, 2010 10:39 PM

Going into year 6 soon but yay i have mr lakey though im not with my best mate
