Thomas Blythe
Tommy owned Birtley Bricks, the bricks were stamped BBB, he lived in Dinsdale House, Burnthouse Lane, Whickham. There are brick pillars on the opposite side of the lane where his garden gate was, steps led to this gate and there were owls on each, the garden which was behind the gate is no longer there. He was a very jolly fellow and well liked in the neighbourhood.

Tommy was my great grandfather who married Elizabeth Swinburne. He claimed to have been born in Rockcliffe, Cumberland. Do you know any more about his background?

Thomas Blythe was my great grandfather. My grandmother was his daughter. Her name was Elizabeth and she married William Cavanagh.

THOMAS BLYTHE was born in ROCKCLIFFE, CUMBERLAND
IN 1829,.he came to BIRTLEY @1852,his father's name was ROBERT, (mother unknown), he and his wife
ELIZABETH SWINBURNE had at least 14 children.
The THOMAS BLYTHE who lived at WHICKHAM was his son, who ran the brickyard buisiness with his
younger brother JOHN CUTHBERT BLYTHE After their
father's death on AUG 6th 1885, THOMAS BLYTHE was
reputably a GYPSY, he was supposed to be
connected to the 'BLYTHE's OF YETHOLM', a well
documented GYPSY family, who had lived in the border's from around the time of 'JAMES 4th of SCOTLAND. I have been researching 'THE BLYTHE's' for the last 10 years and still cannot say for certain that there is any connection to the 'YETHOLM BLYTHE'S' I believe that there is a
connection, I just have'nt found it yet .
