War Work

revlittle.jpg 1914-1918, Rev. C.E. Little polished shell casings as his contribution to the war effort. He used machines supplied by Vickers Armstrongs. These machines were powered by a single cylinder gas engine. His helpers were mainly 13 and 14 year old scouts. After the war the engine was used to help the church organ.

Would it please be possible for whoever posted this information to kindly contact me via e-mail as I am related to Sammy Proud. I would also welcome any info re Harold Proud as I wonder if he was related to Sammy (possibly he's Henry Proud who was killed in WWI?)

Thank you

I am trying to find any relatives of the Redpath family who lived in whickham from the 1880's until at least 1950.
I note that there was a Ned Redpath in the picture --maybe the brother of Thomas Redpath who worked ( I think) at Whickham Parochial school.

This is a cold trail but my memory is that Thomas had a sister Muriel but these are the only clues I have.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

My mother was Nancy Bell --born in 1919 and attended the parochial school until she was 14 and well known in Whickham
She was born in a cottage at the bottom of Church Chare
